What You Need To Know About Weight Control For Children?

In the United States alone, an astounding one fourth of the overall population of teenagers and children are found to be obese. But despite this rate, it is still alarmingly growing. With parents and grandparents catering to their children’s unhealthy eating and bad idling habits, this is not surprising. But if you are concerned for your children’s future, you know this is a serious matter to be considered. More than controlling what they eat or what they do, you need to consider weight control for children to treat the matter before it goes worse.

Obesity, when not treated properly and as early as possible, can be carried on to teen years, and eventually, to adult years. Of course, when a person is obese, it is the abnormally fat figure which is always being ridiculed, bullied, and harassed at. Unfortunately, the problem goes beyond the appearance and social distraction.

Obesity, as clinically discovered, can lead to some chronic diseases, such as heart failure and diabetes. It can even go worse, as these diseases can hit a person as early as in their childhood obese years.

So, instead of giving in to your children’s craving of sugar-loaded and fattening foods or unhealthy habits of being inactive most of the day, start looking out for the best weight control program for children. This is imperative if you don’t want to see your children suffering from chronic diseases and be plagued with expensive hospital treatments.

If you can’t simply get your obese child to eating the right or healthy foods, just think of the life and death matter, which is not a far possibility if not given the right treatment. There are many approaches available for you to successfully lure your children to get treated, to eat healthily, and live normally, just like other healthy children. So, there is no big deal if you’re thinking how you can encourage your child.

When choosing weight control program for children, you need to be very careful. If you are thinking you can apply your kind of diet, it isn’t going to treat the obesity problem of your child. This is because children basically need different kinds of nutrition as you do.

Weight control programs for adults are different from weight control for children. It is therefore recommended that you consult with the right persons, such as a pediatrician or nutritionist, before you submit your child to a specific weight control program.

The diet with which children are subjected to focuses on lowering weight gain while they are growing. It emphasizes the need of resorting to healthy eating habits as well as active lifestyle rather than just being in front of the television or computer sets all the time.

Now, when it comes to talking or encouraging your child into undergoing a specific weight control program, this not a difficult phase at all. What you need to do is to ensure you show your support and love for them. Make sure you are clear about how you are very much concerned over their health and future well-being.

Also, it is important that you guide them all throughout their childhood to teen years and even from teen to adult years. It is also a big factor to being successful in treating obesity problems if you can be a role model to them, from your eating habits, activeness, and healthy living ways. If you can increase family activities, then you even increase chances of being successful in this matter.

What You Need To Know About Dry Skin Beneath Eyes And Why

When dry skin beneath eyes occurs for the first time, we really start to realize the importance of a young and supple skin. It is the one thing that makes us look much older than we actually are. Here is your expert guide on how to cure dry skin around eyes effectively and permanently.

Most people try to avoid dry skin symptoms by using a general over the counter facial cream. But that does not solve the problem of dry skin beneath eyes effectively. In fact it worsens it. I will tell you why.

A majority of the facial creams and moisturizers that you find in local stores and discount stores contain harmful chemicals as active ingredients. You can easily find hazardous synthetic chemicals such as alcohols, parabens, fragrances, dioxanes and mineral oils in them.

You shall be shocked to know the immense harm that these chemicals cause not only to your skin, but also to your overall health. Parabens are preservatives that cause cancerous breast tumors! Fragrances affect the central nervous system significantly and cause depression, anxiety, hyperactivity and hormonal disruptions.

Alcohols strip away the skin’s natural acid mantle leading to excessive skin dryness and make it vulnerable to attacks of bacteria, moulds and viruses. Mineral oils that are widely used as moisturizers in skin care products form a layer on the skin and clog the skin’s pores. This leads to acne breakouts, rashes, photosensitivity, allergies and irritation.

So, you can see that you are better off not using such products, rather than put at stake your skin and health. You won’t gain anything out of them, but you will definitely lose a lot. These harmful substances are used not because they add any utility to the products, but in fact they only fatten the profits of the manufacturers.

In order to get a complete and permanent cure for dry skin beneath eyes, you should use skin care products that contain such natural ingredients that are scientifically proven safe and effective specifically for skin dryness and its related problems.

One such amazing natural ingredient is Homeo Age TM. It is a herbal extract which works very well to cure wrinkles and dry skin around eyes. Another effective emollient and natural moisturizer is Babassu, which is found in the Amazon in Brazil. It softens the dry skin beneath eyes and heals all wrinkles and fine lines.

Your skin also needs a good dose of natural antioxidants to look young and lively. They are essential to combat free radical damage, which is the prime cause of skin aging and dryness.

Active Manuka Honey is a wonderful ingredient that is sourced from the Manuka bushes in New Zealand. It has a rich concentration of active enzymes that have anti aging, anti bacterial and deep moisturizing properties.

It is most suitable and readily absorbable, and is the perfect ingredient for dry skin beneath eyes which is also very sensitive. It is used in many niche skin care products due to its extraordinary role in skin rejuvenation.

Ageing Skin Care – Know More About Common AHA Molecules

AHAs are becoming very popular in the fight against ageing skin and are getting added to most of the beauty and skin care products. AHAs are one of the ingredients that help us keep skin looking young for a longer time. Let us find out about common AHA molecules and how they help in skin care.

Glycolic acid- this is one of the most commonly used Alpha Hydroxy Acids in skin care. It is derived naturally from sugar cane juice. Glycolic acid has a very low molecular size. This low molecular size allows glycolic acid to penetrate skin faster. The dead skin cells that bind with the skin are removed by glycolic acid by loosening the glue that sticks the dead cells with the skin. As the glue loosens, the dead cells exfoliate giving a cleaner look to the skin. Shedding dead cells faster also allows growth of new cells. Glycolic acids also smoothen fine wrinkles. This acid also helps in treatment of blackheads and dries out the excess surface oil on the skin. It is also thought that glycolic acids stimulate collagen production to some extent. This acid also keeps the skin moisturized by keeping water bound to the skin and prevents drying of skin. It can also bleach some spots on the skin. One added advantage of glycolic acid is that it helps other skin care ingredients reach deeper in the skin and makes them more effective. Glycolic acid is on the frontier of skin care.

Lactic acid- it is derived from milk. Milk baths have been popular since ages to get fresh skin and better skin care. That is because of the lactic acid. Lactic acid is a good skin moisturizer as it helps retain water in the skin. It is also a good exfoliater of dead skin cells. It is generally used in combination with other AHAs in skin care products.

Citric acid is also an Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Citric acid is derived from citrus fruits. It accelerates collagen production and also removes spots on the skin. Citric acid is not a good exfoliator. It is considered a good anti oxidant, as it neutralizes free radicals that age the skin. Citric acid has been used for skin care since long in household remedies.

Malic Acid and tartaric acids are other popular Alpha Hydroxy Acids. They are not commonly used alone for skin care treatments but are added to make a combination of AHA skin care products to derive multiple benefits.

Skin Tag Removal ? Fast Facts you Need to Know About Minor Surgical Methods

Skin tag removal can be done quite conveniently at the dermatologist or physician’s clinic. But before you head straight to the clinic for your treatment, it would serve you well to know what the skin tag removal options available for you are. Since the skin tags are attached to your skin, you must be prepared for some level of discomfort or pain during the removal. This can be quite unbearable for some if the number of skin tags is just too many. In such instances, the dermatologist or doctor would usually apply local anesthetic on the surrounding skin to numb and alleviate the pain. In this article, you will read about the different common removal methods that are used to get rid of those ugly skin tags.

Cyrotherapy

This describes the freezing of skin tags to “kill” and remove them. This is often done using ligation and application of liquid nitrogen. Basically, a suture/copper wire is wrapped around the peduncle or stalk before freezing the skin tags. At times, the dermatologist may use forceps instead. But bear in mind that while this method is effective, there is always the risk of suffering from dsychromic lesions if the dermatologist is not careful.

Excision

Excision using scissors or scalpels is normally more suitable for larger skin tags. Aluminum chloride may be applied to arrest the bleeding.

Cauterization

This skin tag removal method involves burning off the skin tags using electric current.

Tying the Skin Tags

You may not be aware but small skin tags can be tied up with threads. The intention of tying is to stop blood supply to the skin tags, and let them die off slowly. After some time, normally several days to a week, the skin tags would darken and slowly dry up. Once that happens, they can be easily removed. One setback of this method is it can be rather tedious if you have numerous skin tags. It is also rather unsightly.

These are the few common skin tag removal treatment that your dermatologist could offer you. You may wish to first consult him/her if the skin growths on your body are skin tags and not other malignant skin tissues. He/she would be able to advise you on the appropriate removal method for your skin tags. However, before you decide on removing those skin tags, you must be prepared to fork out the entire medical bill. Skin tags are benign and are removed mostly for cosmetic reasons, ie to improve one’s appearance. Insurance companies would not cover such expenses.

Concurrently, you have to understand that these minor surgical procedures do involve some level of risks. You need to be prepared for that. If you are interested to know what the risks you are facing when using these surgical procedures and how you can avoid them with natural skin tag removal methods you can readily apply at home, find out about them at my blog.

Know your Skin Cancer

Comments Off | Beauty Tips Tags:, ,

Skin cancer is the most common form of human cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Skin cancer generally develops in the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, so a tumor is usually clearly visible. There are three major types of skin cancer — basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal cell carcinomas and most squamous cell carcinomas are slow growing and highly treatable, especially if found early. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. It affects deeper layers of the skin and has the greatest potential to spread to other tissues in the body. Squamous cell carcinoma also can spread internally. It is estimated that over 1 million new cases occur annually. The annual rates of all forms of skin cancer are increasing each year, representing a growing public concern. It has also been estimated that nearly half of all Americans who live to age 65 will develop skin cancer at least once. They usually form on the head, face, neck, hands and arms. Another type of skin cancer, melanoma, is more dangerous but less common. For localized melanoma, the 5-year survival rate is 99%; survival rates for regional and distant stage diseases are 65% and 15%, respectively.

Skin cancer is an increasingly common condition. This is in part attributed to increased exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which in turn is thought to be caused by the increased popularity of sun tanning. Solar or actinic keratoses are rough, red or brown, scaly patches on the skin. They are usually found on areas exposed to the sun, and sometimes develop into squamous cell cancer. Moles are clusters of heavily pigmented skin cells, either flat or raised above the skin surface. While most pose no danger, some-particularly large moles present at birth, or those with mottled colors and poorly defined borders-may develop into malignant melanoma. Moles are frequently removed for cosmetic reasons, or because they’re constantly irritated by clothing or jewelry. Skin cancer develops primarily on areas of sun-exposed skin, including the scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, arms and hands, and on the legs in women. There are varieties of treatments available, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, to treat skin cancer.

The goals of treatment for skin cancer are to remove all of the cancer, reduce the chance of recurrence, preserve healthy skin tissue, and minimize scarring after surgery. Treatment for skin cancer depends on the type and size of cancer, your age, and your overall health. Surgery is the most common form of treatment. It generally consists of an office or outpatient procedure to remove the lesion and check edges to make sure all the cancer was removed. Most skin cancer removal can be done using a local anesthetic. Excisional biopsy – The entire tumor along with a margin of tissue that is not a visible part of the tumor is removed. Incisional biopsy – A portion of the lesion is removed during an incisional biopsy, which is usually performed when the lesion is large. In cryosurgery, tissue is destroyed by freezing to -40 ° C or below. Liquid nitrogen, the only cryogen effective in destroying malignant and premalignant skin tumors, is used. Radiation may destroy basal and squamous cell carcinomas if surgery isn’t an option. Biological therapy-Interferon and interleukin-2 are under study to treat melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers.

Skin Cancer Treatment Tips

1. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between 10 a.m. And 2 p.m. and during the summer months.

2. Excisional skin surgery is a common treatment to remove skin cancer.

3. Mohs surgery (also called Mohs micrographic surgery) is often used for skin cancer. The area of the growth is numbed.

4. Electrodesiccation and curettage is often used to remove small basal cell skin cancers.

5. Cryosurgery is often used for people who are not able to have other types of surgery.

6. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

7. Use a high-factor sunscreen of at least SPF15 that filters out UVB and UVA and reapply it every two hours.
